Karnataka Assembly Results

 Here are the results of the Karnataka Assembly elections held before 2021:

  • 2018: In the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats out of 224. However, it fell short of a majority. The Indian National Congress (INC) won 78 seats, while the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) won 37 seats. Following a post-election alliance between the INC and JD(S), H.D. Kumaraswamy of JD(S) became the Chief Minister of the state.

  • 2013: In the 2013 Karnataka Assembly elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) won a clear majority by winning 122 seats out of 224. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 40 seats, while the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) won 40 seats. Siddaramaiah of INC became the Chief Minister of the state.

  • 2008: In the 2008 Karnataka Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party with 110 seats out of 224. However, it fell short of a majority. The Indian National Congress (INC) won 80 seats, while the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) won 28 seats. Following a post-election alliance between the BJP and some independent MLAs, B.S. Yeddyurappa of BJP became the Chief Minister of the state.

  • 2004: In the 2004 Karnataka Assembly elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) emerged as the single largest party with 65 seats out of 224. However, it fell short of a majority. The Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) won 58 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 79 seats. Following a post-election alliance between the JD(S) and BJP, H.D. Kumaraswamy of JD(S) became the Chief Minister of the state.
